Your broadband connection for your POS, EFTPOS, Web is as resilient as you choose it to be.

Business grade (ADSL) plans offer higher reliability and better performance than residential (ADSL) plans.
3G plans offer great reliability because the mobile networks have been designed to operate non-stop.

There are many vendors and products available. For a complete list consult "The Broadband Choice".

For more resilience, use network routers with dual internet connections (usually an ADSL with a back-up USB 3G connection or dial-up modem). For instance, we and merchants of ours use Draytek Vigor 2820 WiFi router and Draytek Vigor 800AP WiFi access point.

For mobile point of sale and EFTPOS devices, we recommend a 3G router with Ethernet or WiFi . Tyro terminals support GPRS connectivity and can provide a backup network connection.

For large format in-store WiFi based POS and EFTPOS applications, in particular hostile locations such as very busy bars, pubs, clubs and large restaurants, we recommend the use of WiFi products from AeroHive Networks.

Merchants operating in very remote locations, where even GPRS is not available, can access the Internet using suitable broadband router equipment, that can connect via PSTN or Satellite networks.

Processing credit card transactions offline

If your experience network interruption, call Tyro Support on 1300 966 639 to obtain voice authorisation for credit card transactions. This is essential to prevent fraud!

Tyro can provide manual transaction forms but these should only be used if Tyro Support is not available. Transactions processed manually are not secure and you are at risk!

Manual transaction forms must be processed by you when the network becomes operative. DO NOT send the forms to Tyro for processing.
