Advanced Poultry is a wholesale and retail supplier catering for cafes, restaurants, bistros, schools and a long list of loyal customers.
As the name suggests, it specialises in poultry products ranging from oven roasted turkey and chicken kebabs to chicken schnitzel. However, the standout is souvlaki.
“Our lamb souvlakia are freshly made from the best meat available and marinated daily on our premises,” co-owner Con Nellis said.

Easter and Christmas are particularly busy for the business.
“We are very well known for our quality throughout the city and that’s why our store has such a creditable name within the industry,” Nellis said.
A fast payment system that can cope with peak periods has helped the owners grow the family business.
Advanced Poultry, which started more than 20 years ago, moved to bigger premises in Canterbury about a decade ago. Patrons followed them and the business continued to grow.
“Our reputation has grown but we continue to supply many of our old customers from the early days,” Nellis said.

Advanced Poultry has, along with its shopfront, built a website for online orders and is active on social media to spread the word. Their product reviews on Facebook rate 4.6 out of 5.
