Unfortunately, during these uncertain times, fraud can actually increase as scammers look to take advantage of changes in trading arrangements. Scammers are targeting merchants accepting card not present payments, including telephone orders (MOTO), and encouraging merchants to inflate payment values and make direct credit payments to individuals implicated in the fraud activity. Telephone order fraud is particularly prevalent where merchants process large value transactions, commonly at bike shops and mobility stores and catering providers, and refund fraud is also topical. Sections 3, 6, and 9 of our fraud prevention guide, along with information contained in our chargebacks and disputes guide.
Tyro Business Loans
To help with any additional funding requirements your business may have, the Tyro Business Loan may work for you. Its unique design allows you to ‘repay as you trade’ meaning that repayments rise and fall in line with your cash flow. Put simply, if you don’t trade for the month you won’t need to make a repayment that month and there are no additional fees or charges as a result.^
The Federal, NSW and Victorian Governments have announced the COVID-19 Disaster Payment will be further expanded and increased to support individuals and businesses impacted by the current NSW and VIC COVID-19 lockdown.
For more information visit COVID-19 Disaster Payment (Individuals) and the NSW Government website (Businesses).
Government Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment
The Government announced a Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment for those who need to self-isolate, quarantine or care for someone. Payments are available for people who can’t earn an income because they have been directed to self-isolate or quarantine by authorised personnel. Details depend on the jurisdiction and lockdown orders in place. This payment is available from 1 July 2021.

Tyro has partnered with a number of must-have apps and has developed solutions which may assist our customers to adapt and continue to operate their business in different ways such as via food delivery or solutions to help social distancing. Tyro Connect makes it easy to connect multiple apps to your compatible POS, including DoorDash, Google, me&u and more. Please contact the Tyro Connect team at email@example.com if you want more information.
me&u is one of our partners, a mobile ordering platform that allows your customers to skip the queue and order from their table via the me&u web page or app, making it easier to socially distance and for customers to spend more time at their table eating and drinking. It provides options to upsell and cross sell, plus data driven food and drink pairings, driving the average customer spend up. Take a look at the me&u experience to see if it is right for you.
Pay@Table might also be an option which enables customers to easily pay at their table. Pay@Table allows you to bring up the bill on Tyro’s Mobile EFTPOS machine rather than the Point-of-Sale (POS) and the transaction feeds right back through to the POS*.
The Federal Government has implemented measures to ensure Australians still receive vital healthcare and also to keep health care practices safe. Additionally, a number of other healthcare funders, such as state-based workers compensation insurers (for example icare in NSW, WorkerCover QLD), and the National Disability Insurance Scheme have also implemented changes to support participants, injured workers and their healthcare providers who may need to move to online service delivery models.
