Tap to Pay is integrated with supported POS solutions, so your POS manages the order and checkout experience while Tyro securely handles the payment.

There are two ways POS providers can integrate with Tyro Tap to Pay:

• Tyro Tap to Pay app – The POS pairs with the Tyro Tap to Pay app on the same device. Your POS initiates the payment request, while the Tyro Tap to Pay app securely processes the payment. This provides a faster and simpler integration option and can support web-based POS systems as well as Android POS applications.
• Tyro Tap to Pay SDK – The Tyro Tap to Pay SDK is embedded directly into a compatible iOS or Android POS application, providing a seamless single-app experience where the POS and payment flow are brought together within the same application.

Both options deliver the same core experience for merchants: your POS with Tyro Payments, together on one device.

Tap to Pay is available through eligible Tyro POS Partners.

Contact your POS provider and ask whether they support Tyro Tap to Pay. They’ll be able to explain how Tap to Pay works with their POS solution and help you get set up.

As part of the onboarding process, you’ll also need to complete a merchant application with Tyro (unless you have previously completed a merchant application for EFTPOS payments with Tyro).

Tap to Pay may be suitable if you’re looking for an integrated payment experience that brings your POS and payments together on the same device.

It’s particularly useful for businesses that want greater flexibility in how they serve customers. Depending on your POS solution and hardware, Tap to Pay can support experiences such as countertop dual-screen setups, tableside ordering and payments, roaming staff taking orders and payment, and self-service kiosks.

This makes Tap to Pay suitable for a range of in-store environments – from traditional counter service to more flexible and mobile customer experiences.

Your POS provider can confirm whether their solution and your devices are compatible with Tyro Tap to Pay.

Tap to Pay enables you to securely accept contactless payments directly on a compatible device.

Customers can simply tap their supported contactless card or digital wallet on the payment device to pay, without the need for a separate EFTPOS terminal.

The payment experience is integrated with your POS, helping make the payment moment fast and seamless for both staff and customers.

Not necessarily. Tap to Pay accepts contactless payments with PIN/Signature. An EFTPOS terminal is required for any physical card swipe or insert card transactions.

Businesses running predominantly on Tyro Tap to Pay can create more flexible payment setups, including dual-screen counters, handheld ordering and payments, and self-service experiences.

Tap to Pay has an average transaction time of 1.32 seconds. This is similar to our Tyro EFTPOS transaction speeds and ensures that Tap to Pay provides a fast payment experience, particularly for fast-paced hospitality and retail environments.

Actual transaction times can vary depending on factors such as the device, connectivity, POS solution and transaction.

Pricing will depend on your POS provider and your agreement with Tyro.

Your eligible Tyro POS Partner can advise you about any costs associated with their POS solution or Tap to Pay integration, including applicable software or subscription fees.

You’ll typically pay:

• Applicable fees charged by your POS solution provider.
• Tyro’s applicable transaction and merchant service fees.
